UNIV 2026

Building Bridges: The Art of Dialogue

In a fragmented and polarized society, this topic would allow for a deeper understanding of the prerequisites of dialogue: truth, knowledge, communication, trust; ideologies (what they are, how they work); healthy pluralism; openness and respect for others: empathy, listening, and the effort to understand; self-respect: reflective fidelity to one's own convictions, the ability to rectify; coexistence and peace; intergenerational synergies.

What is UNIVLab?

UNIV Lab is a an international conference, a space of encounter, reflection and work.

The objective is to gather young people and experts from the five continents to discuss concerns and propose answers to the challenges posed by today's culture, related to the theme of this year's UNIV.

A TALK: The Catholic Church in Finland

Join us for a talk by Bishop Raimo Goyarrola, Bishop of Helsinki, Finland

The talk will be held at

MAGNOLIA SCHOOL

9902 Long Point Road, Houston, TX

One diocese in all of FInland. 340,000 square Km. 8 Parishes. 29 Priests,

The task of evangelization in Finland requires initiative and imagination, because the nearest Catholic parish, for many, can be hundreds of kilometers away. Thanks to the gift of ecumenism, Lutherans and Orthodox allow Catholics to celebrate the liturgy in their churches in 20 cities.

Bishop Raimo Goyarrola will share the story of the Catholic Church in Finland: its steady growth, the challenges of distance and diaspora, and the creative spirit of evangelization that sustains its people.

Reflecting upon the challenges of evangelizing in such a large country with such a diverse Catholic population and so few priests, Bishop Goyarrola points out that everyone, regardless of their state of life or vocation, is called to preach the Gospel.

“In Finland, where we are so few [Catholics], evangelization is very important, because if you don’t preach the Gospel with your life, there is no one else to do it.”
— Bishop Goyarrola

Vibrant in faith with a steady annual growth of 500 new Catholics each year
